Genome June Naturalist Night: The Banana Slug Genome

The Santa Cruz Museum of Natural History is thrilled to be partnering with the UC Santa Cruz Genomics Institute as they open the vault to bring you a month of intriguing science mysteries and behind-the-scenes research!

We’re starting Genome June at a slow pace, but that’s on purpose! For the first lecture of the month, join a Paleogenomics Biomolecular Engineer who’s going to give us the slimy inside scoop on the genomic makeup of our very own California banana slug. 

Instructors: Dr. Merly Escalona - Assistant Project Scientist at the UCSC Paleogenomics Lab in the Department of Biomolecular Engineering, UCSC; Dr. Rachel Meyer - Director of the California Environmental DNA Program at UCSC

Materials: Light refreshments will be served prior to the start of the program. After the lecture, there will be an audience engagement game.
